Lord Digby Jones of Birmingham takes a lead from Liam Byrne and writes a note of advice for the new Chancellor on his ideas for the UK economy.

Mr Byrne was the outgoing Treasury minister who left a frank note for his successor saying: "Dear chief secretary, I'm afraid to tell you there's no money left."
